7 Mistakes to Avoid in Your Autoresponder Campaigns | Email Marketing Best Practices

Have you ever wondered why some of your email campaigns hit the bull’s-eye while others can crash and burn? Well, today we’re going to spill the beans and uncover the seven key mistakes that you want to avoid in order to not sabotage your autoresponder campaigns. But before we dive into all the juicy details, let’s just establish something quickly. We all want our emails to stand out and make an impact, right? Right.

But sometimes, even the best of us has a few hiccups. Well, fret not. We’re here today to help you avoid these pitfalls and help skyrocket your email campaign success. Plus, at the end of the video, I might just have a little bonus to share with you.

Ready?

Let’s jump in. Mistake number one, overloading your subscribers with emails. Picture this, you wake up in the morning, you check your emails and your inbox is overflowing with emails from a single sender. What’s your first instinct going to be? You might well be reaching for that dreaded unsubscribed button and we do not want that.

Instead, find that perfect balance between keeping your subscribers connected and not overwhelming them with a barrage of emails. Remember, this is quality over quantity.

On to mistake number two, a lack of personalisation.

Now, I’m sure we’ve all received plenty of those generic dear subscriber emails in our time, and they make us feel like another face in the crowd. And you can easily avoid this by using personalisation tokens.

Address your subscribers by their names, segment your lists based on their preferences, and tailor your content based on their interests.

Remember, a personalized touch can work wonders. Next up, mistake number three, a lack of relevant information. Your subscribers are hungry for valuable content, so serve them up a feast. Don’t go too off topic and send them lots of irrelevant offers.

It’s super important for you to take the time to understand their needs and their preferences, and then for you to craft your emails accordingly. Give them the content that they crave, and they’ll keep coming back for seconds, thirds, and maybe even dessert. Another other mistake that I see people constantly making, and this is mistake number 4, is not optimizing their emails for mobile. Now, this is a very understandable and easy trap to fall into because you’re almost certainly going to be crafting your emails on desktop first. But remember, we live in a mobile first world now, my friends, so you need to up your mobile game.

Now, I don’t mean to be harsh, but if your emails aren’t mobile optimized, then you may as well be sending them via carrier pigeon.

And no, I’m not being too dramatic there. So take the time to ensure that your emails are responsive and look good right on any screen size. After all, we want our subscribers to be able to read our emails on the go, right? Number five in our list, a lack of testing.

It’s like baking a cake without tasting the batter. That’s risky business. Before hitting that send button, make sure that you’re taking the time to test your emails across different email platforms and devices. Take the time to check for broken links, wonky formatting, and making sure that everything looks and works as intended.

Trust me, your subscribers will thank you in the long run.

All right, we’re getting closer to the end, but we’re not there quite yet. Mistake number six, not including a clear call to action. Remember, your emails have a purpose, and that purpose needs to be crystal clear to your subscribers. And whether that purpose is to download an eBook, sign up to an event, or purchase a product, be sure to be always pointing them towards a compelling and clear call to action. Don’t leave them guessing or scratching their heads, lead the way.

And now to the final mistake, and it’s a really common one, and that’s failing to analyze and optimize your campaigns. It’s like going on a road trip but not checking your GPS along the way or filling up your gas tank.

You need to be constantly checking back in to analyze your email marketing performance to make sure that you’re optimizing and learning. See what’s working, see what isn’t, and always be sure to be making data driven decisions when optimizing your campaigns. Remember, knowledge is power.

And there you have it, folks.
